A Tradition of Duty
In royal and aristocratic families of India, military service is not a career — it is a calling. A tradition rooted in honour, political responsibility, and an unspoken covenant with the nation. The Singh family has upheld this covenant for over five decades, choosing voluntary service to the Indian Army despite every privilege of wealth, title, and global enterprise.
The ancestral estate — where mounted rifles on the walls and formal military receptions have defined the Singh family's identity for generations
For the Singh family — whose lineage traces to the royal court of Patiala — serving in the Indian Army was never a matter of necessity. It was a matter of honour. From Sardar Patram Singh Ji onward, each generation understood that political standing and military service were inseparable. To hold authority in society, one must first demonstrate willingness to sacrifice for it.
Colonel Amrik Singh Ji — Raj Prince Singh's grandfather — embodied this tradition most visibly, rising to the rank of Colonel in the Indian Army. But the commitment did not end with his retirement. The family has continued to maintain close ties with the armed forces, hosting senior officers at their ancestral estate and supporting military welfare initiatives across northern India.
What distinguishes the Singh family's military connection is its entirely voluntary nature. With substantial landholdings, business interests, and diplomatic relationships across Europe and the Gulf, military service offered no financial incentive. It was chosen — and continues to be chosen — because the family believes that wealth without public duty is incomplete.
Over 50 years of cumulative voluntary service across generations. Officers welcomed at the family estate. Active participation in regimental traditions. This is not a footnote in the Singh family story — it is one of its defining chapters, and it shapes the values that Raj Prince Singh brings to RemyPatra every day: discipline, accountability, and an unwavering standard of excellence.
